What is Barth syndrome?
Barth syndrome is an ultra rare genetic condition, nearly always affecting males only.
Some of the symptoms include:
- Heart problems (a weak, enlarged heart that doesn't pump efficiently), including a risk of arrrhythmias.
- Feeding problems, including slow growth
- Infections: fewer of a specific type of white blood cell needed to fight bacterial infections
- Muscle weakness and extreme fatigue
